(Under 14 Team June 2010)

The sunny weather has been matched by some great results from our Juniors. Played 6 Won 4 Drawn 1 Lost 1 is a very positive start and proves all the work at winter nets has paid dividends.

Under 12s

Colin Ball has started his first campaign with a bang by beating Harvington and Bretforton. Assisted by Adrian Luxton the Under 12s have quickly taken their learnings from training and applied it into match situations.Team spirit is very strong and in Elliot we have an excellent skipper who despite supporting Arsenal has a great winning mentality. A big thank you to Jacqui and Graham Turner for volunteering to help with refreshments and scoring.

Under 14s

Last seasons champions  coached by Pat started with a thrilling draw against early form team Astwood Bank. Myles and Tom both scored heavily, Tim Bradley was the pick of the bowlers and we were unlucky not to win. The team were rocked by the injury to Justin Clegg and we wish him a speedy recovery. The team welcomed new player Liam to our squad and thank you to his Dad Brendon for volunteering to score

Under 16s

Tims team have started with 2 wins against Tanworth and local rivals Exhall. The squad have been boosted by new players Simon, Matt and Jack. Simon started with consecutive 25 not out and Matt also scored 25 no v Exhall.Alistair quickly settled into his bowling groove taking 2 wickets against Exhall and Joe also shone with 3 wickets in the same match

I would encourage everyone to come and support our youngsters either on a Sun morning or Tue evening. You can find all our fixtures and results on the Cotswold Hills website.

Girls

Tom took the Girls into their first game in the Warks 20/20 league. We competed well but Four Oaks were too strong for us and went onto win.

However with 7 of our Girls being involved at County level I am sure it won`t be long before the Girls hit winning ways.

Thanks go to Cath Peachy, Lewis and Curtis Clark, Mark Wadelin and Big Fish who all play major roles in supporting our Juniors. A big thank you to Virginia who has done a great job in co-ordinating our new shirts . We also thank our new sponors for their very generous donations.

Coaching

We are extremely fortunate to have secured the services of former Warks and Worcs bowler Steve Perryman. Widely regarded as the best Junior coach in the county it wasn't long ago that Steve was coaching the Warks first team.  Steve did a fantastic job in coaching our youngsters at the winter academy and you can see him in action most Friday evenings at Ragley.

We also offer low cost 1 to 1 coaching with Warks district player Tim Whitmore. Several of the Under 12s took this option last summer and the feedback was very positive.

Kwik Cricket

Thanks to Ian, Simon, Morris and Myles plus others who take our Kwik Cricketers on a Friday evening. With the onus on fun in a safe environment plus coaching tips (Ians game has improved imeasuarbly since  playing with the youngsters !) the youngsters also have a great time. Please remember the cost is £1 , please put your money in the tin.

We have a thriving successful youth section , my thanks goes to all our coaches, helpers, parents and especially to the Players for being a pleasure to work with

-Simon Whitmore
