Norton Lindsey 239-6 beat A&RPCC 1st by 123 runs
Ragley won the toss and inserted Norton in after they had dismissed the same team for a paltry 105 earlier in the season. Things carried on as they had left off in the earlier game as Westwood claimed the 2 openers again to slow short pitch bowling both of whom patted the ball up in the air, one for Ricky to catch and the other Sam caught after finally deciding to make an effort for it. Ian Morgan looked in good touch for Norton and Ragley knew that getting him would be the key to Norton getting a good score or not, as you can guess from their final total we did not get him out cheaply. However wickets were being collected at the other end on a regularish basis as Capron bowled Berry for 13 and Morris had Walters caught for the same score, the total at this stage was 137-4 from 35 overs so the run rate was in check. Unfortunately the final 10 overs produced some carnage as they went for over a 100 runs with Morris and Lewis Clark going the distance. Morgan was eventually run out by Steve “Fat Head” Capron for 80. Andrews 33 and Tustain 26 not out hoisted the final score to an impressive 239-6. Capron was pick of the bowling with 2-38.
Ragley were confident of getting these runs as they saw the opening bowlers who must have been the friendliest they have seen all season, however new look opener Peachey (I mean new look as in he hasn’t batted there before) seemed to want to finish the game very quickly as perhaps he had a hot date to get to? It was with some surprise that he was bowled for 15 from the only ball he didn’t play a shot at as he was bowled for the 2nd week in a row leaving a straight one. Lee dangled his bat at a wide one next over as is his want and was caught behind for 11. Further inadequate batting followed from Ricky (8) and Lewis (10) and they both contrived to get themselves bowled somehow. Devey again looked in prime touch until he patted a catch back to the bowler for 0. Westwood and Morris put on the only partnership of any note as they added 47, Sam contributing a fine 7 of these before he was caught playing only his 2nd shot of his innings. Morris top scored with 37 before he was caught off the bowling of Dewar as the innings subsided to 116 all out. The only real point of note after Morris’s dismissal was the innings of Westy who was making his debut for the season in the 16th game and to be fair it showed as he patted a half tracker (raving ling hop) to mid wicket to be caught for 2.
