Alcester & Ragley 1sts (328 - 3) beat Stratford Bards 2nds (65 all out) by 263 runs

Ragley moved up to 3rd in the table with this comprehensive victory away at Stratford Bards. Being put into bat first Ragley made steady progress for the first wicket again some good bowling from John Patton and young Robert Smith. However Ragley openers Ben Lee and John Tose stayed there and began to pick up the run rate until Tose was out for 27, Lee followed 2 balls later for 43 and the score had reached 87-2 after 20 overs. What followed was a 200 run partnership in the next 20 overs between David Swinburn and captain, Adam Warbrick. Both played positively from the off and punished any loose bowling as they scored at 10 runs an over between them. The only blemish for Ragley on the day was that neither was able to reach their century, as Warbrick was out on 97 and Swinburn finished agonisingly short also on 97 however he was not out. Lewis Clark came in once Warbrick had departed and scored a brisk 38 not out including 3 big sixes over mid wicket as Ragley posted a huge 328-3 in 45 overs.

In reply to this massive total Stratford Bards got off to the worse possible start when Whitehouse was lbw to Julian Reader for 1 to leave them 4-1 after 3 overs. He then produced a snorter to bowl the new batsman for 0 before the next batsman was caught at mid on by Ollie Swinburn off Reader for 4. Warbrick then got into the act at the other end as he had a wicket also caught by Swinburn junior before Reader completed a quickfire 5 wicket haul as he clung onto a caught and bowled chance and then Steve Capron took a good catch at short midwicket to complete Reader’s impressive spell as he finished with superb figures of 5 wickets for 7 runs. Bards at this stage were 21-6. There was some resistance lower in the order before Tose (1-15) and Clark (2-5) finished the innings at 65 all out in the 24th over.
